Every refit begins with a thorough assessment of the boat and a conversation about your wishes. We review the boat’s current condition, construction, technical systems and use, as well as how you want it to function and feel in the future. Inspection, planning and priorities
Before work begins, we assess the boat’s construction and the condition of its technical systems. We identify which components can be retained, which should be refurbished and which need replacing or modernising. We then draw up a project plan with recommended improvements, priorities and work stages. The refit can be carried out as one complete project or divided into phases over several winters.

Interior and exterior alterations
With our own workshops for woodwork, fibreglass, composites and paintwork, Vindö Marin can make both functional and aesthetic changes to your boat. These may include altering and adapting the layout; adding new cupboards, berths and storage solutions; modifying the galley, saloon and heads; repairing and modifying the hull and deck; installing new teak decks, bathing platforms and deck features; or carrying out paintwork, gelcoat repairs and surface treatments.
New technology
Modernising technical and electrical systems
Many boats can be upgraded with modern technology that improves safety, comfort and the onboard experience. Vindö Marin installs and modernises electrical, electronic and battery systems to suit the boat’s existing configuration and future needs. Technical upgrades can include electrical and battery systems, navigation and communication equipment, interior lighting and navigation lights, charging systems, heating and air conditioning, fresh water and wastewater systems, watermakers, and systems for monitoring and controlling onboard equipment.
Engines
Engines, propulsion and manoeuvring
A refit can also include servicing, overhauling or replacing engines and associated systems. We work on propulsion, steering, propellers, shafts, and fixed and retractable bow and stern thrusters. By reviewing the boat’s technical systems as a whole, we can improve reliability, performance, manoeuvrability and comfort. Each solution is tailored to the boat’s construction and intended use.
Rigging
Rigging, deck equipment and stainless steel fabrication
For sailing yachts, a refit can include the mast, standing and running rigging, sail handling systems and deck equipment. We can also upgrade or install anchor windlasses, davits and other equipment that makes the boat safer and easier to handle. In our workshops, we also manufacture bespoke stainless steel components, including fittings, brackets, bowsprits, bathing platforms, radar arches and tanks. Each component is designed to suit the boat’s dimensions, function and appearance.

A refit goes beyond what is behind the panels. Through professional detailing, paintwork, gelcoat work, polishing and treatment of wooden features, we can restore and refresh your boat’s appearance.
